![]() | ♣♣♣♣♣♣ what's in a name? 'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads But I'm thinking of what Sarah said "Love is watching someone die" She knows you. She loves you. No matter what, these are two truths. You know her, although you may not remember completely. You have met her once. You will meet her again. Because she is Death. From Neil Gaiman's comic series Sandman, Death is one of the Endless, seven anthropomorphic aspects of the universe. She is the second eldest in all, although the oldest sister. Despite this, she will be the very last one at the end of the universe. When the first living thing existed, I was there, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave. Despite this rather dreary sounding existence, Death is quite the cheerful sort. She smiles, she holds out her hand. She listens. She is who you would wish to see when everything has come to pass. When granted her human form, an occurrence which happens once every century, she prefers to go with simple names. "Dee" seems to be her favorite. |
